Hi Awson,
The patch may solve the problem, but it introduces a large number of new
testsuite failures (ld, gas and binutils), so it is not acceptable as is. If
you have the time, please could you try investigating the following:
Checking Binutils in: x86_64-pc-cygwin ... GAS: 5 LD: 23 BIN: 2 done
GAS Fail: struct
GAS Fail: macro test 1
LD Fail: -l: test
LD Fail: ALIGNOF
LD Fail: DEFINED (PRMS 5699)
LD Fail: ld-scripts/defined3
LD Fail: ld-scripts/pr14962
LD Fail: EXTERN
LD Fail: ld-scripts/provide-5
LD Fail: MRI script
LD Fail: SIZEOF
LD Fail: --entry 0x0
BIN Fail: objcopy (simple copy)
BIN Fail: --localize-hidden test 2
These are just the failures for one COFF/PE based targets. There are lots of
others as well...
I suspect that there are some assumptions about the size of the internal_syment
structure in the BFD library. But that is just a guess.
Cheers
Nick
