these patches improve the situation quite a bit. the divider is now set
correctly and the "drag" zone is now correct too. Things are usable now at
least. But I experience now both layout and repaint problem in the right split
pane.

If I have 4 tables in a 2x2 grid at the right, they are not equally sized,
being the two at left larger.
