I got no errors making the libraries on mingw32, i used Mingw 2.0 (GCC 3.2)
and MSYS 1.0.8. I've only had to change config.h and comment HAVE_OLD_IOSTREAM,
and get a precompiled libxml2 from the web.
I used the Makefile.gcc on win32 directory, the only problem is that i couldn't
make the demos or tests with the makefile.
