Conrad,
You are correct in saying that the Common C++ project's string class
has nothing to do with the stl string class. Now if only there were nice,
clean, conversion operators between the two, it would be just so much easier
to add Common C++ capabilities to existing stl string based projects. It
would be just so cool.
Cheers, and best wishes to all
Erik.

Clearly this project's "String" class has no direct relationship with STL
"basic_string" template class.
How are these implementations related in time?
Which came first? Did development overlap?
Which implementation is gaining popularity in new
projects?
Does Common C++ project have plans to support 2/4
byte character sets?
TIA,
Conrad Pino
