I didn't research the "debian meta" at all.  I tend to use either
http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages#search_packages
or the "apt-file search ..." command to determine package names.

I'm using Debian "stable" which currently is the "sarge" release.

I've upgraded the kernel but not compiled a custom kernel:
