Welcome to
Just For Grins Just For Grins is a weekly article published by Fire Chaplain Walter
McCutcheon, OFPD. Just For Grins is being read and enjoyed
by firefighters and friends in over 40 states, 6 Canadian provinces, and the UK. These articles have two goals: 1) To provide weekly personal encouragement 2) To provide periodic information regarding Fire Break – A Firefighter Retreat Center Example of a Just For Grins Article: My Aunt Emma? Frank tried to be nice when Aunt Emma moved in with his family. Aunt Emma was a cantankerous old lady. Everything had to be just the way she wanted. Frank and his wife soon found themselves waiting on her day and night. Two years later, Aunt Emma, bless her little heart, passed away. After the funeral, Frank finally voiced his true feelings about Aunt Emma to his wife. "Darling," he said, "If I didn't love
you so much, I don't think our marriage would have survived your Aunt
Emma." "MY AUNT EMMMA?!!!" Frank's wife replied,
"I thought she was your Aunt Emma!" That one makes me smile every time I read
it... ya gotta love it. Sometimes, loving others means putting up
with stuff. True love is a commitment of the heart. It is a commitment that goes beyond circumstance,
feelings, or even an Aunt Emma. This
kind of love can survive and grow even in the worst of times. Many times, we must choose to stay
committed first, and know that our feelings will usually follow later. This kind of loving isn't always easy, but
it is always worth it in the end. Hang
in there. …end of
