compression not working....

        Hi,

        We have downloaded and compiled the latest CVS version 1.12.9. We
use it in both CVS server and client side. Everything seems to work fine,
but compression does not work:

 > cvs version

[sundev014] ~/sand/c1 > cvs -z9 -t co CVSROOT

cvs checkout: inflate: unknown compression method
cvs [checkout aborted]: reading from server: I/O error
 >

        We have compiled cvs using:

./configure --prefix=/local/local --with-krb4=/local/local --enable-encryption

        Are we doing something wrong?. Is there a fix for this?
