Follow-up Comment #1, patch #5053 (project cvs): I have replied in private e-mail with suggestions about coding style and reported some bugs with this patch. The biggest problem with the patch as provided is that is assumes that flock() and LOCK_EX exist on all platforms and this is a bad assumption. For example, Solaris 9 does not provide this functionality. It may be desirable to look at how the GNULIB getpass function does exclusivity locking as an alternative approach.
