Do you have a compiler installed? Do you have make installed?
I don't know much about tiger, but see if you can install some sort of
dev tools package.
You are right, I managed to install via Terminal of the OSX, but have
had to install the Developers' Tools first, as Terminal couldn't find
command "make" prior to that.

I am running ddrescue now since Sunday evening, but it went thru only
about 400 MB, finding almost a half erroneous. Is there a way to speed
the things up, as ddrescue is supposed to be the swiftest among the dd
utilities?
