I think this list has been used to report a bug just once. All the other
messages have been for help in using ddrescue.
The reason I wanted you to CC the list is that way other people can help
you, which is what happened.
How do you point ddrescue to a source drive that is not listed in /dev?
You can't. However are you sure the entire drive was not listed? If linux
can't read the partition table it would not make hda1, hda2, etc, but it
will still list the entire drive: hda
If the entire drive isn't listed no tool can do a thing because it means
that your computer doesn't see the disk at all.
