i am recovering a DVD that was made by Back In Time, a backup program.
It is a backup of text files created under Ubuntu 9.02 Linux. i have
run the rescue using ddrescue -b2048 -v -s1G /dev/scd0 cdimage logfile.
The recovery appears to have gone well, but i don't know how to deal
with the cdimage file.
The logfile looks like:
# Rescue Logfile. Created by GNU ddrescue version 1.11
# current_pos current_status
0x131AE000 +
# pos size status
0x00000000 0x0EDD8000 +
0x0EDD8000 0x00024000 -
+ & - lines repeat
i got a hex editor, Midnight Commander, hoping to read the cdimage file
and find the text files, but the file seems to be too big for the editor.
So ... you know what is next - What do i do?
i also want to complement you on ddrescue. It is a superior, mature and
exquisitely beautiful software program that you should be justly proud
of. It is the kind of software that i would have written! The Best!
