I've got a 60GB Maxtor DiamondMax 16 IDE hard drive that is dying (it
makes clicking and clacking sounds when it's powered up) that I'm trying
to recover data from. I have it connected to my computer using an
external USB enclosure.
When I connect the drive to my system (Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit), the system
tries to determine the size of the drive but can't and thinks it's 2.2TB!
So, what are my chances of getting the data recovered from the drive?
I'm going to see if I can connect it to my system using an IDE cable
instead of the external USB enclosure and see if the system can better
detect the actual size of the drive.
Thanks!
Peace...
Tom
