Hello everyone,
first off, thanks for providing such an excellent data rescue tool to
the open source community. I have been able to rescue quite a few
failing drives, which would not have been possible with any other tool.
During a drive rescue last year, which took a full week to complete, I
wondered whether there could be a better way to visually keep track of
ddrescue's progress. The terminal output is a good overall indicator,
but does not display the error / trimmed / rescue / nontried regions.
So I decided to write a small GUI utility that parses the log file and
displays it's information in a colorful block graph.
The tool was initially written using Delphi, compiling to win32 only.
A few days ago, I picked up motivation to port it to Lazarus for
multiplatform support and release it under the GPL.
There are now builds for win32 and 32/64-bit Linux. I have to note
here that I am not very experienced at GNU/Linux development, so there
might still be some significant flaws in those versions. Just let me
know if you if you encounter any problems.
If you are interested, you can find the tool at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ddrescueview .
Kind Regards,
Martin
