Thanks Paul and Scott for your answers.I'm not going to use the patch from Alexander because its coding style is too different from ddrescue's. For example, the patch uses macros, which are not desired in ddrescue.
I'll also try to make the output format a little less redundant. Any suggestion about this is welcome.

I only hope the algorithm does not get so complicated that ddrescue becomes Skynet. :-D
