You mean ddrescue is reporting bad areas as good? If this is the case it is a serious bug.
Also, pre8 is noticably slower than pre6 or pre7.
I guess the algorithm has become complicated enough that some verification means are needed. I am working on a "test mode" where the map of good/bad areas can be specified and the resulting logfile can be compared with the map to verify that ddrescue is copying the data properly.
