Well, that settles it. So you probably wouldn't even want to press return 
twice, like Scott suggested. After all it is your tool (that we like and thank 
you for), and what you write is a completely valid argument. 

The added text in the --help output certainly helps. But maybe you could add at 
least a line like "warning: No mapfile specified!" to ddrescue's normal output. 
I think it should be shown at all verbosity levels (except -1, --quiet) in 
rescue mode. Right now even with verbosity=4 there is no mention of a mapfile 
when none is given.
