I have a small suggestion that might benefit other ddrescue users as it would have benefited me: Adding a command line option to enable periodic sync() calls, to force the OS to flush its buffers.
Thanks for the suggestion.Calling 'sync' may be too much. I think it would be better to 'fsync' also the mapfile when --synchronous is requested.
As always feedback is welcome. If nobody suggests anything better, I'll release a new version in a few days.
