This is not as easy as you think. The format of the mapfile should be changed so that the start time can be read reliably on successive runs of ddrescue. Times are currently saved as comments, which ddrescue ignores.
# Start time: 2015-11-02 09:11:28 # Current time: 2015-11-02 09:12:00 That info is surely hiding what actually happened :-)
Showing the start time of the first run and the end time of the last run would hide it even more. The best way of keeping an accurate record of what actually happened is to save the mapfiles of all runs.
