Yes, but if you want to resume the rescue (instead of starting anew), 
you will also need to pass --try-again to ddrescue the first time that 
you use --exit-on-error.

Use the --input-position option.

Reading forward and then reverse, both with --exit-on-error, should 
delimit the troubling area. Unless there are several troubling areas, in 
which case you may need to delimit each of them using --input-position.
