Dear FSF,The documentation for ddrescue fill mode <https://www.gnu.org/software/ddrescue/manual/ddrescue_manual.html#Fill-mode> says: /If the argument of the '//--fill-mode//' option contains an '//l//', ddrescue will write location data (position, sector number and status) into each sector filled. With bad sectors filled in this way, it should be possible to retry the recovery of important files, as location of the error is known by looking into the unfinished copy of the file.
/This option is used in example 4: / ddrescue --fill-mode=l- tmpfile cdimage mapfile/However, actually running this on the latest version produces "ddrescue: Invalid type for 'fill-mode' option. I suspect the functionality was removed without an update to the manual.
Best wishes, Ben
