The section on Fill Mode contained in info ddrescue describes
filling bad blocks with location and a text string. The description
applies to a recovered disk or file. However the examples given employ
recovered files.
If a disk rather than a file is to be used with the following syntax,
a warning is issued:
$ sudo ddrescue --fill-mode=l- tmpfile /dev/sdc logfile
ddrescue: Output file exists and is not a regular file.
ddrescue: Use '--force' if you really want to overwrite it, but be
aware that all existing data in the output file will be lost.
Try 'ddrescue --help' for more information.
/dev/sdc is the disk recovered from the bad disk using ddrescue and
the logfile above.
Is the syntax correct?
The ddrescue version is 1.21
