Hello,

I compiled ddrescue-1.27 from source on my M2 Macbook, I don't hold

this stand for petabytes?
Yes, it stands for petabytes.
This is no bug. You specified --reverse in the command line, and ddrescue
started pass 3 from the last possible position because it was not able to
determine the size of the input device. I don't know how ddrescue found out
the size for pass 1. Maybe the first time you invoked it, the drive was
still reporting its size.
The solution is to specify the drive size with the option --size=bytes.
Best regards,
Antonio.
