Fancy Sort?? |

Hi!
I just noticed that my new Linux installation's `ls' command sorts in
a very strange way obviously ignoring special characters or the like:
E.g. it sorts like this:
tap
.tep
tup
Instead of the former
.tep
tap
tup
I searched the man and info pages for the name of this silly feature
to switch it off. I fiddled with the LC_* variables but nothing seems
to help. Why was this introduced? Now all the .dot files disturb the
otherwise nicely sorted output of ls. Especially home directories
look very ugly.
How can I switch this off, please? I absolutely dislike this new
feature.
Bye, bye,
Henrik
