cp and mv with interactive option

cp and mv with interactive option |

Running Redhat 2.2.16-22
cp and mv commands don't seem to be able to use -i. The mv or cp transpires
and I'm returned to the command line. Where else would I check to see if this
is turned off? Or is it a bug?
