Thanks for the patch.
However, that has been fixed for some time.
This change appeared in fileutils-4.1.1
* ls no longer truncates user names or group names that are longer
than 8 characters.
You might want to use coreutils instead.
Although they are all still nominally test releases,
this particular one has turned out to be pretty stable:
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils/coreutils-4.5.3.tar.bz2
(coreutils is the union of fileutils, textutils, and sh-utils)
The very latest is here
ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils/coreutils-4.5.9.tar.bz2
but it has a couple of known bugs.
