In that case, I would suggest to bump AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION in
hello/configure.ac to 0.19.1 or later.

Yes, gettextize will do the above, and autopoint (invoked from
./bootstrap) will pick the newer gettext infrastructure from the next
time.
