Thanks for the report.

I reproduce the issue even with the default AppData XML rules, with the
attached files and these steps:

1.

xgettext -o mf.pot mf.appdata.xml


2. Copy mf.pot to fr.po and fill in fr.po.

3.

msgfmt --xml --template=mf.appdata.xml -l fr fr.po -o merged.xml
