I found that the easiest (even if time-consuming) option is to just build GCC 
myself.  That results in a mostly sane building system, better than before.  
Of course, I've now to check if I need to disable the Darwin-specific weird 
preprocessor or not, because the stock GCC can't switch to the precompiling 
preprocessor.
