I have discovered a problem with the resolver code. Basically it doesn't
try hard enough to resolve an address. This causes problems for people
like myself who use ppp to provide dial on demand.
The symptoms are that a demand dial will be performed but the process which
initiated it (a news fetch or address@hidden block upload are two common causes)
fails to connect.
Altering the constant RES_DFLTRETRY in resolv.h from 2 to 5 solves this
problem. If it is felt to be desirable to keep this number low in normal
operation then perhaps a configure switch for DoD users would be useful.
