Problem with compiler with the #if 1 code included

In GNU Emacs 19.34.1 (sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1, X toolkit) of Thu Feb 27 1997 on 
ultra1
configured using `configure  --with-gcc --prefix=/opt/gnu'

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Doing a compile and the compiler crashes.
Whenever the #if 1 code at the end is added.
