PSPP-BUG: PSPP not opening files

Hi,
  To help one of my students, I've been looking at PSPP as suitable software
for his project.  It's hard to get 'off first base' because no file which I
identify (e.g. tab delimited text) will open.  Instead I continually get
this error message:

"PSPP error: Could not open "U:\<myname>\Scholarly Folder\Study
Leave.96\Indian States ƒ\New State Stix": No such file or directory"
   What am I doing incorrectly?
