However adding x-spss-sav and x-spss-por didn't make any difference for me.
Try this approach instead:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT already contains a category .sav (presumably put there by the
pspp installer)
under .sav add a new key value pair:
Content Type REG_SZ application/x-spss-sav
Presumably you have to do something similar for the .por as well.
