Details:

open psppire
create a categorical variable by entering few numbers (one example file is
attached)
go to -> variable view
open "value label" pop-up box for entering value labels
in the popup window, there are three options (viz, value, value label and
"add/apply/remove" option). [image is attached]
say, 1 indicates failure.
so enter "1" in the "value box",then press "tab"; this results in the
selection of "value label box", enter  "failure" in the box. press "tab once
more. "add" button is selected.

Expected result: pressing the "enter" button will add the value label.
   
actual result: pressing the "enter" button does noting.

problem: most of the laptops now-a-days use a delay between keyboard use and
mousepad use. as a result, a delay occur in data entry.
