Follow-up Comment #1:
The problems with respect to icon display and file filtering are due to
problems with mime type handling in the quartz version of glib. After patching
glib as discussed here:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=788936
and adding uti definitions to the Info.plist file in the bundle
https://github.com/fredowski/osxbundler/commit/6c661a88dbd48f6357f5bf54f4c6bb861c2033c5
the fixed bundle works. The icons are displayed and the file filter works.
