Follow-up Comment #1, bug #55778 (project pspp):

I think you are probably running on windows.   There have been some similar
reports on windows operating systems.  It certainly works ok on GNU/Linux.

If there is a windows expert who can explain why this happens, then we can try
to fix it.  Until then I can only suggest you use GNU/Linux instead.
