I don't think it's worth exploring how to make this test work perfectly on Mac
OS.  I think the bug is just in the testsuite, not in what it's testing. I
pushed commit acf6d3e85e39 ("tests: Skip pty-based test except on GNU/Linux.")
to skip this test except on GNU/Linux.
