You're right. Exactly the same thing. The workaround for compiling is
editing lib/Makefile. Find the line containing "DEPEND" somewhere in it
and change every ".o" to ".lo". This is from my head, but I'm pretty
sure there's only one line matching "DEPEND" in there. After that,
compilation will be no problem.
