Google has a similar thing, and an employee made contributions to Wget.
The copyright clerk's answer (at that time, it was Jonas Jacobson) was
that if the contributions were made on behalf of Google, then no
disclaimer was needed, but that if they were made on their own time, a
personal assignment was preferred.
