This is correct.

This is correct. However, there is no advice printed to create the
directory lib/. The two lines of advice that no longer apply are:
[Don't forget to]
- add "lib/Makefile" to AC_CONFIG_FILES in ./configure.ac,
- mention "lib" in SUBDIRS in Makefile.am,
(By the way, I'm very happy that the problem is as simple as
misleading suggestions; there's no problem, as far as I can discover,
with the actual functionality.)
