[PATCH v3 0/4] Code hygiene fixes from grub

Hello gnulib,

Based on our previous conversations, this is a reduced set of the
changes from our grub2.  Note that the sign-compare changes are not
being propsed this time due to the ongoing conversation about
gnulib-specific CFLAGS.
