I contributed to termcap in the 1970s, when Bill Joy was still in charge of it. You can see some of my work even today, by searching for "This description is tricky" in FreeBSD's /etc/termcap.
This experience convinced me to never work on anything like that again. What a mess it is! My hat is off to anybody who wants to maintain it.
