using -v and -A/-B/-C optios together ?

I want to leave out a matching line and say 10 lines before/after/around it.
Is it possible? In the experiment I tried, if I use -A/-B/-C with -v grep
stills prints lines around the matching lines only and not the not-matching
lines.
Can I get done what I want with grep?
