True, but it's a bugfix. (BTW, did you compile 2.5.3 yourself or did you use
your distro's)?

It actually doesn't, one would omit "a" and the other would omit "Z". It's
the way it is, and we cannot change it.

You don't. You have to set LC_ALL=C or at least LC_COLLATE=C.
