Thanks for all the testing.
The new symlink failures should be easy to fix, one way or another.
They arise because the test opens and attempts to read from/search
a directory. On some systems, reading an FD open on a directory
fails with EISDIR, and on others (like the above), the read succeeds
and returns raw directory entry data.
