I am using groff 1.23.0 installed via homebrew on MacOS Ventura 13.5 on a M1
machine.

Given this minimal example (image is appended to this issue):


.PRINTSTYLE TYPESET
.AUTOLABEL_IMAGES
.MLA
.START
.PDF_IMAGE IMG_4025.pdf 320p 240p CAPTION "View of the Rätikon Group"


The caption is rendered on a new line, and not as I would expect it, directly
following the label on the same line.

Mom documentation [1] also suggests different behavior: 

> .CAPTION_AFTER_LABEL, with one of the required arguments, instructs mom to
attach captions directly to the appropriate labels, beginning on the same
line.

Please, let me know, if I can provide additional information.
