[bug #66583] [PATCH] allow building groff without makeinfo

From: anonymous
Subject: [bug #66583] [PATCH] allow building groff without makeinfo
Date: Sun, 29 Dec 2024 16:38:22 -0500 (EST)

Follow-up Comment #30, bug #66583 (group groff):

Upon Alex's & Branden's suggestions, I have added several new make targets
which allow for more precise selection of what is to be built. I strongly
felt this should be documented somewhere, so I have also added target
`help` which documents all of these and some others. The patches are
attached.

This seems a superior way of implementing this compared to the two patches
I have submitted before. It should be considered whether it is okay for
`make all` to fail if makeinfo isn't present; if it is, we could remove
makeinfo detection in m4/groff.m4 and instruct users to exclude the
Texinfo manual's target when running make instead:

make bin data man-all doc-extra examples

If you think some other partitioning of groff would be more logical,
I welcome your suggestions.
