you want something like this in your menu.lst file!
title Linux
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.2.19 root=/dev/hda1 ro
title Linux
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2 root=/dev/hda1 ro
