grub.conf problem

hi all ,

The default grub.conf which is placed in the 
/boot/grub directory is loaded when the grub starts . 

When this file contains entries more than 200 , the file is not getting loaded .
I try to load it manually using configfile  option , but it gets garbled . How 
do I change the source , or what is the workaround to increase the number 
of entries so that it loads fine with more entries .
