Follow-up Comment #1, bug #15048 (project grub):
This does not look like a bug in GRUB but rather a support issue regarding
Windows XP and Linux / GRUB interaction.
A few more details / pointers will be useful to diagnose and help with this:
1) Do you have a virus checker in Windows, does it check the boot partition,
does it repair the boot partition (i.e. erases / confuses GRUB)?
2) do you have IDE (ATA) or SATA drives
3) does your BIOS have an anti-virus or a boot sector checker?
