Follow-up Comment #3, bug #36770 (project grub):
Compressing files in memdisk isn't platform-dependent. You haven't indicated
anything about any actions to include xzio/gzio in preloaded modules or
avoiding compressing them and explicitly loading when compressing individual
files.
-C is supported only for i386-pc and mips-* as there is little real reason for
compression on other platforms.
